About two and a half years ago, I left Corporate America and started working for a blogger full time. I had worked in office environments since High School so this was a very big change for me. Having photography already under my belt was a great help but I had to dive in and learn everything else. I learned hands on while I took courses in social media, technology and the business of blogging. I really enjoyed using my creativity every day!
When the season of working on her blog ended, I put all of that new information to good use and started consulting with small businesses. I began building websites and blogs and helping people create social media strategies.
When the thought came to me to bake something every week and give it away, I shuttered, lol. But since my love languages are time and gifts, this might just be the perfect way to learn something new. This is out of left field because I’ve never baked a thing from scratch. My Grandma was an excellent baker, but she never used a recipe a day in her life, making it impossible for her to teach someone else her innate skills. I have my fingers crossed that I ended up with a bit of those somewhere in my blood. I can follow directions and I’m pretty precise so I thought I’d give it a go. I figured it might work because there should be no shortage of guinea pigs to volunteer as taste testers. And it would be a perfect way to start a blog to keep my technical skills up to date.
I immediately pictured a scene from a cartoon where a woman opens a window to put a hot pie on the ledge to cool off and without fail, the lovely smell draws some cookey character to swing by and snatch it up… every single time.
For now, on Sundays, I’ll be making a mess in my kitchen, shaking my fist at all the dishes, throwing something (gently) in the oven and saying a little prayer that it comes out ok, wish me luck!
You’ll find this to be a lifestyle blog with a heavy emphasis on baking. I’ll share what I learn along the way but it probably won’t be too technical. Feel free to email me your favorite recipes or any tips, I’m definitely open to any help I can get! I’d love it if you join my email list and sweeten up your inbox with new recipes! I hope you enjoy the content on She Bakes They Eat!
