I don’t know why it has never crossed my mind to make homemade hot chocolate on the stovetop. For me, hot cocoa is the ultimate comfort drink, some would go so far as to call it a hug in a cup. I do think we could all use a little extra comfort right now. This is a simple recipe and the creamiest hot chocolate I’ve ever tasted. This could easily be doubled for a bigger batch if needed.
If you want to make a single serving of hot chocolate in the microwave, you can use this tried and true recipe from Hershey.
Have fun with it!
Feel free to play with your favorite flavors and toppings.
I’ve experimented with this by adding cinnamon to one batch. Just add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon to step 1 of the recipe. You can add a cinnamon stick for garnish.
I’ve also made a simple version of raspberry homemade hot chocolate by adding 3 tablespoons of raspberry flavored syrup at the same time as the vanilla. You can add a couple of raspberries for garnish.
Both options got a large stamp of approval.
